Whose toddler has too many toys? This girls!
We have family members whose love language is gifts. They love to give! Which is awesome, but I found Patrick’s playroom to get completely unorganized and then he wouldn’t play with things because it was so overwhelming to him. I recently started learning about minimalism through Joshua Becker’s website www.becomingminimalist.com In his book The More of Less: Finding the Life You Want under everything you own Josh talks about things you can do to de-clutter your home.
We decided to start applying some of this information to our home and it is truly making a difference.
This was Patrick’s playroom before picture:
There are so many toys underneath you can’t even see them!
After de-cluttering/organizing and getting rid of things he rarely plays with, we now have a playroom that looks like this:
We ordered the cars toy organizer to keep all of Patrick’s toys tidy and in bins. I didn’t want one that had cloth bins as I felt they would not be sturdy enough for a 3 year old little boy. This one had hard plastics bins that are going to hopefully stand the test of toddler time. Here is the link where you can check them out: referral link Cars toy organizer.
The cool racetracks on the wall Patrick discovered from The Axel and Daddy Show and we decided that he needed them Lol. You can get them here. They are super fun.
We just started applying these principles in our home and can’t wait to move on to other rooms. It is super refreshing walking into a clean playroom. Stay tuned for other areas and ways we are working towards minimalism. What have you done in your home to become more of a minimalist?

Oh my word, I was SO just thinking today that I have got, got, GOT to get rid of stuff. At this point, nothing is sacred. I just want it gone. Thank you for reinforcing that instinct…if I can make as much progress on my daughters’ “playroom” (they’re teenagers, so we now call it the “hangout room”) as you did with your son’s, I will feel like a new woman. Thank you so much! Stopping by from Blog Moms on a Mission on Facebook!

I have twins and I find they play so much more when things are organized and they can see and access everything!

Yes!! My husband and I were JUST talking about needing to declutter! We’ve found that our girl plays more when there are less options, too!

Josh’s book Has really been helping me. He also has some great ideas for other things for kids on his website. One of which is storing their art by taking pictures of all of it and creating a photo book. Genius! That is definitely going to be something that we implement in our house as well. Excited to do that and many other things.

My playroom is now screaming my name since my toddler has more toys than every other child combined! Tomorrow I shall be cleaning out I think! Thanks for the motivation. Wish me luck. You might hear from me next year with her mess 😊

I’m not minimalist, but my husband would love me to be! That said, I’m slowly getting better when it comes to clutter and believe we can all have too much stuff.

Lol! know we definitely do! I’m going to slowly but surely work through each section of my house.

This post is just on time, yesterday we gave a makeover to our son’s room which was nothing more than a storeroom but now it looks fresh and welcoming. Minimalism is so very important.

This is so refreshing! Looks great! We often buy and keep way more than we need

I agree with this so much! I just can’t handle to have disorganization due to excessive materialism. I’m always donating, throwing away and cleaning up because otherwise I would have an anxiety attack lol

My sister refuses to have a house full of toys, but my niece loves what she’s got. I look at some of my mates kids and there’s 200 toys that lay unused that some less fortunate kid could make plenty of use of.

Absolutely! We are donating unused items.

I need to do a major overhaul on our four year olds toys! WE have so many of those “tiny toys”! They are everywhere!…4 bins full!

Those organizing bin racks are a must-have for little kids. We don’t have a separate playroom – the kids’ play space is also our family living space – and we had TWO of those bins in there, until a few years ago when we finally got some built-in shelves/cabinets installed, that I had been wanting since we moved into our house right before my first was born. Now, the girls have a designated cabinet and several designated bookshelves, and it’s SO nice to be able to close the doors on their clutter when playtime is over 🙂
